Midtown
NYC観光旅行（9/10〜9/15）の記録、ミッドタウン。
ミッドタウンの定義には色々とあるようだけど、つまりは、マンハッタンを南北に渡ってアップタウン、ミッドタウン、ダウンタウンの3つに分けた時の、真ん中に挟まれた地区のことをいう。
行ったところは、ロックフェラーセンター、タイムズスクエア、エンパイア・ステート・ビル、グランド・セントラル駅、国連本部、コリアタウンなど。
【国連本部】
友だちの会社の人が連れて行ってくれた。安全保障理事会が開かれるところ、マスコミ会見が行われるところなど、一般の人は入ることができないところまで踏み入れることができて、ラッキーだった。
今は、日本は非常任理事国ではないため、情報を得るのが大変なんだそうだ。
中のカフェテリアでご飯をごちそうになったけど、とても美味しかった。
ロックフェラーセンターのGEビルの最上階、トップオブザロックからNYCの風景を楽しむ。
GEビルは、NYCのアール・デコ様式のビルの一つで、1933年に建てられた。高さ335.99m（75階）で、ニューヨークで9番目に高いビルである。
ここで、トップオブザロック、エンパイアステートビル、メトロポリタンなどの美術館、自由の女神のフェリーなどに入れるシティパスを106ドルで購入。
展望台はガラスに囲まれていて、いまいちな写真が多かったけど、エンパイアステートビルが綺麗に撮れた。
次に向かったのは、エンパイアステートビル。
こちらもアール・デコ様式で、1931年に建てられたもの。当時は、クライスラービルから「世界一の高さのビル」の称号を奪うために急ピッチで工事が行われたそう。1972年にワールドトレードセンターのノースタワーが竣工するまでの42年間、ニューヨークで一番高いビルだった。
これは、5番街方面、ロックフェラーセンターを撮った写真。
こちらはタイムズスクエア。ガラスのビルが光っている。
そして最後に、ダウンタウン方面を撮った写真。ずっと先に、地上から空に光が伸びているのがるけど、これはグラウンド・ゼロのライトアップ。
ワンワールドトレードセンターがもう少しで完成する。
建設中のワールドトレードセンターの高さはエンパイアステートビルを上回っているので、「ニューヨーク1の高さ」という称号はすでに明け渡している。
I'll talk about our sightseeing trip to Midtown in NYC.
Although there are several definitions of "Midtown", it's usually referred to the
middle part of Manhattan island when we divide the island into three parts,
Uptown, Midtown, and Downtown.
We visited the the Rockefeller Center, the Times Square, the Empire State
Building, the United Nations Headquarters, Korea Town.
【The United Nations Headquarters】
A coworker of my friend took us to the United Nations Headquarters.
We were lucky to see the conference room for the Security Council and the
news conference room.
He told us that it's difficult to obtain information because Japan isn't the non-
permanent council member.
He treated us to lunch at a cafeteria inside the building.
It was delicious!
【The Rockefeller Center】
We enjoyed a beautiful view of NYC from the Top of the Rock on top floor of the GE building.
The building is one of the Art Deco style buildings in NYC, and was built in 1933.
The height is 335.99 meters (75 floors) and the 9th highest in NYC.
I couldn't take pictures well because the observation deck was surrounded by
glasses, but I got one beautiful picture of the Empire State Building.

Next we went to the Empire State Building.
It's also Art Deco style, and was built in 1931.
Construction of the building was proceeded at a good clip to rob the title of
"world's tallest building" from the Chrysler building.
The Empire State Building had born the title for 42 years since the north tower of the World Trade Center was completed in 1972.
