The 28th November is the Thanksgiving Day this year.

It is one of the important national holidays in the US and Canada. At that day,
people give thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. It
is cerebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the US and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious
and cultural traditions, and has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well.

Family, relatives, and friends have a reunion and enjoy drinking, eating, and
talking. Some of my American friends will go back to their hometown. A typical
Thanksgiving dinner menu includes the following: Roasted turkey with stuffing,
mashed potatoes and gravy, glazed sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green
beans, and pumpkin pie.

There are some events at that day. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of them. It took place in New York City. It begins at 9:00 am and lasts for three
hours. A lot of balloons such as Mickey Mouse, Hello Kitty and Santa Claus march in the parade. It must be fun, but it is usually very crowded. Many people enjoy watching it on TV. Also some famous football games are held at that day.

I have no plan at that day so I'll stay home and work. But I may cook some
special dinner for me.

Last Thursday I ate pumpkin pie which my English teacher made for us. It was so delicious! I also feel like cooking pumpkin pie.
