Mariinsky Orchestra

コーネルの秋のコンサートシリーズでマインスキー管弦楽団のコンサートに行ってきたときの話。
こういうコンサートに安く行けるっていいなあ。

Last night I went to a concert of Mariinsky Orchestra which was held in the
Bailey Hall at Cornell University.

They played Mussorgsky's "Might on Bald Mountain", Rachmaninoff's "Isle of the
Dead, Op.29", and Shostakovich's "Symphony No.5 in D Minor, Op.47", conducted by Ignat Solzhenitsyn.
He is a Russian-American conductor and pianist who is the conductor laureate of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the principal guest conductor of the
Moscow Symphony Orchestra.

All of the three composers are Russian.
I was not familiar with their pieces.
But I enjoyed them and got interested in Russian classical music.

The concert was one of the Cornell Concert Series in Fall 2013.
The university sponsors several concerts.
I'm also thinking to go to a violin concert of Goto Midori, which will be held on
November 5th.

I bought the most expensive ticket($38) for the concert last night, but I didn't
realize any difference from less expensive seat.
So, I'll buy the most reasonable ticket for the next concert.
